MEDICAL STUDENT BY DAY. COMPOSER, PRODUCER & DRUMMER BEYOND IT.
Music has been part of his life since childhood. It began at six, with a pair of drumsticks and an instinct that never left.
Seven Trinity examinations in drums. Years of training under his guru Mr. Ramkumar. Rejection that became motivation. Discipline that became freedom.
From NEET preparation through medical college, he kept making time for music. It evolved. Alongside discipline, it became his space to create.

03.1 / THE CREATIVE PIPELINE
From Instinct to Release.
Every record begins as something you can’t quite name. Here’s how instinct becomes something the world can hear.
01
INSTINCT
It starts as a feeling, a moment, a spark that won’t leave.
02
EXPLORE
Searching for the right sounds, textures and tones.
03
RHYTHM
Building the heartbeat. Groove gives the emotion direction.
04
PRODUCE
Layering, shaping, refining. The record takes its form.
05
RELEASE
The music leaves the room and finds its listener.
“From a whisper of instinct
to a record that outlives the room.”

EIGHT MOMENTS, ONE ARTIST
THE NOTESBETWEEN THE NOTES.
Eight chapters behind the sound — the discipline, instinct and quiet decisions that shaped Ashie Keys.
CHAPTER 01 / 08
Music Before Words
Before words or formal study, music was already part of my world. From sacred melodies like Krishna Gaanam heard before birth to listening to Shri Krishna songs on an iPod as an infant, music surrounded my earliest days as an instinctive comfort long before it became a discipline.
“Before music became a discipline, it was an instinct.”
CHAPTER 02 / 08
The First Pulse
At age six, that instinct found its first instrument. At a birthday party, while the musical troupe had stepped away for dinner, I picked up the drumsticks and began playing the drums on my own. It was the moment my family first realized rhythm was something I carried naturally.
“Instinct reveals itself the moment no one is watching.”
CHAPTER 03 / 08
Closed Doors
My family initially took me to a drum master, who let me join his classes. But after a month, he called my parents to say I was not suitable for music—pointing to my short stature and what he felt was a lack of ability. The door was closed early, but the rejection only clarified my resolve to keep going.
“Rejection decides nothing unless you agree to it.”
CHAPTER 04 / 08
Restraint as Luxury
My family then approached Mr. Ramkumar, who recognized my love for rhythm and became my lifelong musical guru. Teaching me the drums, he gave my instinct structure, showing me that true musical power does not come from rushing or force, but from patience, precision, and discipline.
“True mastery begins with someone who believes in your discipline.”
CHAPTER 05 / 08
Mastering the Rules
Under Mr. Ramkumar's guidance, I spent years studying formal percussion technique, preparing rigorously and completing seven Cambridge Trinity examinations in drums. I learned the rules not to follow them rigidly, but to build the control that lets creative instinct speak freely.
“Master the foundation so your instinct can speak freely.”
CHAPTER 06 / 08
Full Circle
During my first Trinity examination, the original teacher who had dismissed me happened to be listening outside the venue as I played the drums for the British examiner. Afterward, he came forward to congratulate me on a fantastic performance. It wasn't about proving anyone wrong—it was quiet proof that perseverance outlasts doubt.
“Perseverance speaks far louder than initial doubt.”
CHAPTER 07 / 08
Two Spheres
Through the intense demands of NEET preparation and later joining medical college, I always made time for music. Medicine trains the mind in physiological precision and clinical care; composing translates human emotion into sound. Two demanding worlds, held in balance, sharing the same search for what moves us.
“Precision feeds the mind; music restores the soul.”
CHAPTER 08 / 08
Composed, Not Performed
Today, under the name Ashie Keys, my focus is scoring stories where cinematic emotion meets pop energy. From acoustic rhythm to layered keys and production, I create for quiet spaces and cinematic moments—music designed to stay with the listener long after the final sound resolves.
“Scoring stories where cinematic emotion meets pop energy.”
05 / VISION
Two Worlds.One Voice.
I write to capture the pacing of quiet rooms, the weight of held breaths, and the harmony that arises when we stop hurrying. True luxury in sound is not ornament. It is the patience to let a single chord resolve.
“Precision feeds the intellect. Restraint feeds the soul.”
